Strong tornadoes hit US Midwest
Illinois, Nov 18: Extremely powerful tornadoes swept through the US Midwest on Sunday, killing at least 5 people and injuring many others. Several buildings were destroyed and vehicles over-turned in the states of Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.

Many are said to be trapped inside buildings. Strong hailstorm was also reported.

Forecasters say up to 53 million people could be affected, reports BBC news. The fast-moving storm with a speed of 111km/h (68mph) - is moving its way east, the report says.

An alert has been issued by the National Weather Service warning people that severe thunderstorms, strong winds, tornadoes and hails are expected in several states.
