PM Modi Strongly Condemns Cowardly Terrorist Attack in New Orleans, Offers Condolences
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has denounced the terrorist attack in New Orleans, USA, which resulted in 15 fatalities. He extended his condolences to the victims' families. "We strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack in New Orleans. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. May they find strength and solace as they heal from this tragedy," PM Modi stated on X.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also condemned the incident, describing it as an outrageous attack. He echoed Modi's sentiments by sharing his post on social media and offering condolences to the affected families. "An outrageous attack that underlines why we must stand united in the fight against terrorism. My condolences to the families of the victims and prayers for the early recovery of those injured," he said.
Details of the Attack
The tragic event unfolded when a driver caused chaos in New Orleans' renowned French Quarter on New Year's Day. The driver rammed a pickup truck into a crowd, leading to his death by police gunfire, according to authorities. This incident turned Bourbon Street's festive atmosphere into a scene of horror.
Over 30 individuals sustained injuries during Wednesday's attack, which disrupted celebrations on Bourbon Street. The FBI is treating this as a terrorist act and suspects that the driver did not act alone. An Islamic State group flag was discovered attached to the vehicle's trailer hitch, according to their statement.
The incident highlights the ongoing threat of terrorism and underscores the need for global unity in combating such acts. The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover any connections or motives behind this violent act.
