Government's Strong Commitment to Enrich India's Heritage During First 100 Days of NDA 3.0
The Culture Ministry has outlined several initiatives undertaken in the first 100 days of the new government, showcasing its dedication to preserving India's cultural heritage. These efforts include hosting a significant UNESCO meeting, launching a museum at Humayun's Tomb, and collaborating with France on the Yuga Yugeen Bharat National Museum project, which is set to become the world's largest museum.

Among these initiatives, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), under the Culture Ministry, successfully organised the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Delhi from July 21-31. During this event, the mound-burial system of the Ahom Dynasty in Assam was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. This marked the first cultural property from India's northeastern states to be included, increasing India's total World Heritage Sites to 43.
UNESCO Meeting and Cultural Property Agreement
The ministry also highlighted a Cultural Property Agreement signed between India and the US in July. This agreement aims to combat illicit trafficking of antiquities and enhance international cooperation in safeguarding India's cultural assets. Such collaborations underscore the ministry's commitment to protecting and promoting India's rich heritage on a global scale.
In addition to these international efforts, a state-of-the-art sunken museum was inaugurated at Humayun's Tomb in Delhi on July 29. This museum has become a significant cultural and tourist attraction in the city. The ministry also released a commemorative postage stamp honouring iconic playback singer Mukesh, recognising his lasting impact on Indian music.
Yuga Yugeen Bharat National Museum
The planned Yuga Yugeen Bharat National Museum will be located in North Block and South Block as part of the Central Vista Redevelopment project. Spanning 1,54,000 square metres, it is poised to be the largest museum globally. To support this project, a workshop was organised for private stakeholders like conservation architects and designers. This initiative aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders for a unified vision for the museum.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi saw massive participation. Over five crore citizens engaged by hoisting the tricolour at their homes and joining national events like Tiranga Run and Tiranga Rally. This campaign exemplified national pride and unity across India.
Commitment to Cultural Preservation
The ministry's recent actions reflect its unwavering dedication to cultural preservation and international collaboration. By hosting key events and forming strategic partnerships, it continues to celebrate India's diverse heritage while ensuring its protection for future generations.
