Stroke Care Transformation in Ahmedabad: QAI and Hospital Chain Join Forces
The Quality and Accreditation Institute (QAI) and a hospital chain in Ahmedabad have joined hands to improve stroke care in the city. The initiative involves establishing a network of primary stroke centers through smaller healthcare facilities, such as nursing homes and clinics. This collaboration aims to provide timely and appropriate care to stroke patients, positioning these local hubs as centers of excellence in stroke care management.
In a significant move to enhance stroke care in Ahmedabad, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Quality and Accreditation Institute (QAI) and a renowned hospital chain. This collaboration aims to establish a network of primary stroke centers through smaller healthcare facilities, ensuring timely and appropriate care for stroke patients.

Collaboration with Nursing Homes and Clinics
The initiative involves partnering with nursing homes and clinics, transforming them into local hubs for primary stroke care management. Marengo Asia Hospitals, in a recent press release, highlighted the establishment of a 'Centre of Excellence in Quality and Patient Safety in Stroke Care' at Marengo CIMS Hospital in Ahmedabad, in collaboration with QAI.
QAI's Role in Quality Improvement
QAI was established with the objective of fostering an educational, training, quality improvement, and accreditation/certification ecosystem for stakeholders involved in quality enhancement. Among its verticals, the Centre for Accreditation of Health and Social Care (CAHSC) oversees accreditation and certification activities in the healthcare and social care sectors.
Expanding Comprehensive Stroke Program
The press release emphasizes the intention to expand the comprehensive stroke program to partner clinics and nursing homes, empowering them to play a more significant role in the community. By providing essential knowledge and skills, these stroke centers will be equipped to deliver standardized stroke care.
Enhancing Stroke Care in Ahmedabad
Through this collaboration, the aim is to extend top-notch stroke care to the residents of Ahmedabad. Nearby community hospitals will be engaged, offering them training and expertise to evolve into L1 and L2 stroke centers in association with MCIMS and QAI. This endeavor represents a significant step towards improving stroke care accessibility and quality in the city.
