On receiving information, the Railway Police rushed to the crime scene and initiated a probe into the matter. Notably, this was the seventh such incident since January.

The Vande Bharat trainset, formerly known as Train 18, is considered one of India's flagship trains. The indigenous semi-high-speed train can travel at a maximum speed of 160 km/h and has state-of-the-art facilities for passengers.

The train with state-of-the-art facilities has been a popular mode of transportation since its launch, especially for long-distance travel.

On March 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the new Vande Bharat Express from Dehradun to Delhi via video conferencing. With this, Uttarakhand will have its first semi-high-speed train unit.

The Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat train runs on all days of the week, except Wednesdays. The new Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of 302 km, within a travel time of 4 hours and 45 minutes.
