The Karnataka government is all set to file a review petition before the Green tribunal in Chennai on Thursday in the controversial steel flyover case. The review petition prays to revoke the interim order restraining the Karnataka government from going ahead with the project. The interim order was passed on October 28 by the tribunal bench headed by Justice M S Nambiar.

Former Additional Chief Secretary of Karnataka V Balasubramanian and N S Mukund, the president of Cititzen's Action Forum had filed a joint writ petition before the Green Tribunal against executing the Rs 1761 crore project. The most important point of contention in the petition being Bengaluru losing close to 800 trees if the government went ahead with the project.

Steel flyover- Karnataka to file review petition

The tribunal bench had sent notices to BDA, KSPCB and Union Ministry of Environment and Forests seeking their responses before the next hearing on November 25. Karnataka government now hopes that the review petition will bring some respite before the scheduled hearing.
