New Delhi, July 20: The Modi sarkar which sailed through comfortably in Parliament had the support of the AIADMK when the house voted during the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP.
Following a 12 hour debate, the no-confidence motion introduced by the TDP and backed by the opposition was defeated with 325 MPs rejecting it. Only 125 MPs backed the motion.
DMK leader M K Stalin took a dig at the AIADMK for backing the BJP in Parliament. Support for Modi Govt in NoConfidence despite NEET, 15th Finance Commission, GST, Hindi imposition and communal politics is further proof of the quid pro quo arrangement between ADMK and BJP. IT raids on Chief Minister Edapadi Palaniswami's family have achieved their objective, he also said.
In a House of 534 MPs, the National Democratic Alliance has 313 members - 274 (including the Speaker) of BJP, 18 of Shiv Sena, six of Ram Vilas Paswan-led LJP and four from Shiromani Akali Dal. The Shiv Sena and BJD did not vote in the no-confidence motion.
The BJP's Nishikant Dubey asked, ' what can be a bigger mandate than this. The Congress will get only 10 seats in 2019.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu said, the PM did not speak on AP's development. He displayed the same negligence. I have never seen such an irresponsible Central government before. By seeing this unjust attitude of the BJP, it seems like the Congress government was better. BJP doubted our patriotism and this cannot be tolerated, he also said.
"Disappointed with the proceedings in Parliament. Whole of Andhra was waiting for justice to be done. PM Modi again spoke as if Andhra was not part of India, " he also said.
