Commemorative Coins Honor Sikh Philanthropist Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji
Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi released a commemorative Rs. 200 coin and a Rs. 10 currency coin to mark the bicentennial birth anniversary of Sikh philanthropist and social reformer Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji. The event was held in the presence of His Holiness Sri Satguru Udey Singh Ji, the current Guru of the Namdhari sect.
On Sunday, Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi unveiled a commemorative coin and a currency coin to commemorate the bicentennial birth anniversary of Sikh philanthropist and social reformer Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji. The event took place in New Delhi, with His Holiness Sri Satguru Udey Singh Ji, the current Guru of the Namdhari sect, in attendance.

Recognizing Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji's Contributions
Lekhi, who serves as the Union Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs, released the commemorative coin with a denomination of Rs 200 and a currency coin with a denomination of Rs 10. She highlighted the significant contributions of Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji, describing him as a great philanthropist, thinker, seer, and social reformer.
Pioneering Non-Cooperation and Swadeshi
Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji played a pivotal role in India's freedom movement by employing non-cooperation and swadeshi as tools to liberate the country from British rule. He passionately advocated for the people to embrace their Indian identity, remain Indian, and support Indian products.
Championing Social Reforms
Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji's social reform efforts were notable. He vehemently opposed the practice of female infanticide and spearheaded a movement against Sati pratha, a custom that involved the burning of widows on their husbands' funeral pyres. Additionally, he advocated for equal educational opportunities for girls.
Celebrating Parkash Purab
Namdhari Sikhs commemorated Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji's Parkash Purab at the Namdhari Gurdwara in Ramesh Nagar, New Delhi. Thousands of Sikhs, along with various leaders and scholars, visited the gurdwara to pay their respects to this revered figure.
The release of the commemorative coin and currency coin serves as a fitting tribute to Sri Satguru Ram Singh Ji's remarkable contributions to society. His legacy as a philanthropist, social reformer, and freedom fighter continues to inspire future generations.
