Lankan court extends remand of 9 Tamil Nadu fishermen till Sept 30

Rameswaram, Sept 16: A Sri Lankan court today extended till September 30 the judicial remand of nine local fishermen, arrested by the Lankan Navy on September 2.

Rameswaram fishermen organisation president S Emerite said the Oorkavalthurai court judge remanded them till September 30 when they were produced in court.

The fishermen were fishing near Katchatheevu when they were arrested. Later, they were lodged in a Jaffna prison.

Few days back, the body of one of the three Tamil Nadu fishermen, who went missing after they put to sea on August 25, has been washed ashore in Velvattithurai coast off Sri Lanka.
