SpiceJet Window Dislodged Mid-Air on Goa–Pune Flight, Passengers Left Shocked
In a concerning mid-air incident, a SpiceJet aircraft's window frame dislodged during a flight from Goa to Pune on Tuesday, leaving passengers alarmed. A video shared by a flyer quickly went viral, drawing attention from aviation authorities and the public alike.
Despite the panic, SpiceJet clarified that cabin pressurisation remained normal, and the flight was never at risk.

What Exactly Happened on the SpiceJet Flight?
The incident occurred onboard a SpiceJet Q400 aircraft, just 30 minutes after takeoff from Goa, according to a passenger. The interior window frame came loose, startling nearby travellers - particularly a woman seated with her baby.
In a now-viral post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), a passenger wrote:
"#SpiceJet from Goa to Pune today. The whole interior window assembly just fell off mid-flight. And this flight is now supposed to take off and head to Jaipur. Wonder if it's airworthy..."
Airline's Response: "No Risk to Safety"
SpiceJet addressed the situation in an official statement:
"A cosmetic window frame on one of SpiceJet's Q400 aircraft became loose during flight and was found dislodged. It is important to note that this was a non-structural trim component and did not compromise aircraft safety or integrity in any way."
The airline emphasised that the aircraft has multiple layers of protective window panes, with the pressure-bearing outer pane remaining fully intact.
How Did the Crew Respond?
According to Mandar Sawant, a passenger on board, the flight crew moved the woman and child to a safer seat and tried to calm passengers.
"The stewardess managed to somewhat get the window back on, but any sudden movement and it probably would have fallen off again," he told The Indian Express.
DGCA Yet to Respond
The incident has sparked discussions about aircraft maintenance, especially as India's aviation regulator DGCA was tagged in the original social media post. As of now, no formal statement has been issued by the DGCA.
This incident adds to ongoing scrutiny of low-cost carriers and aviation safety standards in India. While SpiceJet reassured that the issue was cosmetic, frequent flyers are demanding more transparency and stricter checks.
