Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Day 1 Box Office Collection: Ayushmann's Film Off To Decent Start

Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh's romantic comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has opened to a below-average response at the Indian box office, collecting ₹3.85 crore net on its first day.

Directed and written by Mudassar Aziz, the film serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit Pati Patni Aur Woh but has struggled to generate strong opening-day momentum despite a wide release.

Released across 6,822 shows nationwide, the Hindi entertainer registered an overall occupancy of 11.94% on its opening Friday. While evening and night shows witnessed a marginal improvement in footfalls, the film remained largely subdued throughout the day, signalling limited initial audience pull. Morning occupancy stood at just 5.38%, before improving to 10.92% in the afternoon, 10.46% in the evening, and peaking at 18.62% during the night shows, according to Sacnilk data.

The film's Day 1 India gross collection reached ₹4.62 crore, while overseas markets contributed an additional ₹1 crore gross. This pushed the worldwide gross total to ₹5.62 crore after its opening day. Although the overseas numbers offered some support, the domestic start remains underwhelming considering the star cast and genre appeal.

Among the major centres, Pune emerged as one of the stronger-performing markets with 14.5% overall occupancy, followed by Mumbai at 13.8% and Jaipur at 13.3%. Bengaluru also posted a fair response with 11.8% occupancy, particularly improving during the night shows where occupancy touched 24%. Mumbai too saw a notable jump in late evening footfalls, with night occupancy climbing to 21%.

However, several key circuits underperformed. The National Capital Region (NCR), which accounted for the highest number of shows at 958, recorded only 9.8% occupancy overall. Kolkata remained dull at 7.8%, while Surat registered one of the weakest performances with just 5.5% occupancy across 188 shows. Bhopal also recorded a muted 7% response.

Interestingly, Chennai delivered the best occupancy percentage despite limited showcasing. The city recorded a strong 30.7% overall occupancy from only 17 shows, aided by an impressive 49% turnout during night screenings. However, the low show count means the contribution to overall collections remained limited.

Trade analysts believe the film's weekend performance will be crucial in determining its theatrical prospects. Romantic comedies traditionally rely on positive word-of-mouth and urban multiplex audiences, and Pati Patni Aur Woh Do will need substantial growth over Saturday and Sunday to recover from its modest opening.

With mixed audience response and relatively low occupancy levels in key territories, the coming days will determine whether the film can stabilise at the box office or continue its slow start.
