After terror attacks, SpiceJet to resume flights to Kabul from Aug 2

The airline had suspended its operations after the July three attack by militants at the airport just when a Boeing 737 aircraft of SpiceJet was about to take off for Delhi with almost 100 passengers on board.
A SpiceJet spokesperson today announced that the airline was resuming its thrice-weekly Delhi-Kabul flight from August 2.
The airline had temporarily suspended services to Kabul on July 18 after the incident. Air India had also then suspended its operations for a few days and had resumed later.
SpiceJet had temporarily suspended services to Kabul after terror attacks
The attack was aimed at the military airbase at the Kabul airport and reports had said that the rocket hit a target on the military side of the international airport, which led to a major exchange of fire between the Afghan security forces guarding the airport and suspected Taliban insurgents.
The Kabul airport runway, refuelling facilities and other operations had then been suspended. While SpiceJet operates to Kabul from Delhi one flight each on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Air India flies six days, barring Wednesdays.
The only Afghan carrier which flies into Delhi is private airline Kam Air. The Civil Aviation Ministry officials had held discussions with their counterparts in other concerned Ministries and agencies on the safety of flight operations to Afghanistan.
The attack had come weeks after a terror strike on the Karachi airport and a shootout at the Peshawar airport in Pakistan.
