New Delhi, April 1: No, it's not an April Fool prank but a reality that

is offering flight ticket at just Rs 1. Spokesperson of the airline on Tuesday, April 1 said that the offer is for limited seats and one can avail the offer if bookings are done between April 1 to April 3.

Official statement of the airline says, "The sale will be applicable only on direct flights of SpiceJet's new domestic network. Tickets can be booked via SpiceJet website (www.spicejet.com), and through travel portals and travel agents." [Read: No more flight ticket at Rs 1, SpiceJet asked to stop offer immediately]

SpiceJet, during one early morning briefing to press, said that the airline in addition to the Re 1 offer, discounted fares are also available for Rs 799 and Rs 1,499. The limited seats offer is available for bookings made in the period 1 April to 3 April, 2014 only. These tickets are valid for travel between July 1, 2014 and March 28, 2015.

Tickets can be booked through SpiceJet website or through travel agents

An official of the airline said, "We have been at the forefront in the Indian market in stimulating demand by offering discounted fares. These offers have served as a catalyst for travel for many potential fliers willing to plan and book early."

The official also added, "These fares will allow families to plan their vacations and weekend trips at fares lower than train fares with joy and freedom, now that the pressure of March school exams is finally over. But they need to move fast as seats are limited."

According to sources, many other airlines such as -- IndiGo and GoAir and later maybe even Air India and Jet may follow SpiceJet in giving special offer like flight ticket at Rs 1. However, experts believe that it would be better for the airline industry if these airlines did not follow SpiceJet's do-or-die fare strategy.
