SpiceJet Employee Alleges Sexual Harassment By CISF Personnel At Jaipur Airport

A SpiceJet staff member, arrested for slapping an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Jaipur Airport, alleged that she was sexually harassed, prompting her to retaliate.

Speaking to ANI on Saturday, the SpiceJet employee recounted the incident: "On July 11th, at 4:30 am, ASI Giriraj Prasad approached me while I was working and said, 'Give us a chance to take care of you.' When I asked him to call a female constable for frisking, he responded with, 'How much money will you charge for a night?'"

SpiceJet Employee Claims Sexual Harassment

She further explained, "He said, 'Listen to me, you'll feel better. Your work will get done quickly.' When I threatened to file a police complaint, he retorted, 'You can't do anything to me. I have seen a lot of women like you, I'll get you fired.'"

A viral video captured the SpiceJet employee slapping ASI Giriraj Prasad after a heated exchange. Following the altercation, ASI Prasad lodged a complaint claiming she slapped him during an argument about security screening, leading to her arrest.

Addressing the ASI's complaint, the SpiceJet staff member stated, "He filed a complaint against me before I could. I have only complained to the police."

In response to the incident, SpiceJet released a statement: "An unfortunate incident occurred at Jaipur Airport involving a SpiceJet female security staff member and a CISF male personnel. Our female security staff member, with a valid airport entry pass, was subjected to inappropriate and unacceptable language by the CISF personnel. SpiceJet is taking immediate legal action in this serious case of sexual harassment against its female employee and has approached the local police. We stand firmly by our employee and are committed to providing her with full support."

The SpiceJet employee, who has been with the airline for five years and works in the security department, asserted her familiarity with all rules and regulations.

According to ASI Prasad's complaint, the SpiceJet crew member arrived at the airport at 4 am and attempted to enter without a security check. When asked for screening, she refused, citing the absence of female staff. He claimed he then contacted airport control to request female staff via a wireless message. He alleged that the crew member became angry, argued, and slapped him before a female staff member arrived.

Contradicting this account, the SpiceJet employee stated, "Their claim that I was trying to enter without a valid card is false. We usually coordinate with female CISF staff and do not interact with male staff daily. There is typically a female staff member present in the morning, but not at night. We take the catering van, hand over the slip, and proceed to the departure hall without any issue. There is never any female staff there."

Advocate Deepak Chouhan, representing the SpiceJet employee, told ANI, "The SpiceJet employee has been arrested. She was sexually harassed by the CISF ASI at Jaipur Airport. Abusive words were used against her, leading her to lose her cool and slap the CISF officer. This was a natural response. In the court FIR, we have noted that the woman had not displayed such behavior in the past. Had this been her usual conduct, similar incidents would have surfaced earlier. However, this matter is under investigation."
