SpiceJet Delhi-Mumbai Flight Disrupted For 3 Hours After 2 Passengers Try To Enter Cockpit

In a serious security breach, two passengers were offloaded from a SpiceJet flight at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday after they allegedly tried to force their way into the cockpit. The incident occurred while the Mumbai-bound flight was taxiing for takeoff, prompting the aircraft to return to the bay.

According to the airline, the passengers ignored repeated instructions from the cabin crew, fellow passengers, and even the captain to remain seated. "In the interest of the safety of all passengers and crew, the captain decided to return the aircraft to the bay," a SpiceJet spokesperson said. The two individuals were subsequently handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for further action.

Serious Safety Violation

SpiceJet stressed that the disruptive behaviour posed a significant threat to flight safety. "They attempted to approach the cockpit forcefully, which is a serious safety violation," the airline added.

The incident caused a delay in the flight's departure but was resolved without further disruption.

Zero Tolerance for Unruly Conduct

The airline reaffirmed its strict stance on onboard misconduct. "SpiceJet remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all passengers and crew. Any unruly behaviour that jeopardises aviation safety will be dealt with firmly," the spokesperson stated.

Aviation authorities are likely to review the matter further, as incidents involving cockpit interference are treated with utmost seriousness under civil aviation regulations.
