Special licence to serve liquor in wedding halls introduced in Tamil Nadu
You will now need a special license in Tamil Nadu to serve liquor at a wedding, banquet or conference.
The special licence would also apply to serving liquor at convention centres, household functions and other events. The order issued by the Tamil Nadu government says that the special licence will be needed to serve liquor to the guests, visitors and participants in international/national summits and events/conferences/celebrations/festivals."

The licensee shall obtain a no objection certificate from the Commissioner of Police for events held within corporation limits. In the case of the events being held in districts, the licence shall be obtained from the Superintendent of Police, the order also said.
"The licence shall obtain his supplies from the Tamil Nadu Marketing Corporation Limited Wholesale Depot nearest to the place of the events or from such other source such as the Deputy Commissioner/Assistant Commissioner (Excise). This would be subject to the condition as per the quantity of the supplies approbedf by the the Deputy Commissioner/Assistant Commissioner (Excise)."
All applications for a special licence shall be made online prior to seven working days from the date of conduct of the event, the order read. The application shall be accompanies with a remitter copy of the original challan of the Government Treasury or the State Bank of India, showing the remittance of the licence fee, the order also said.
