186 Passengers Begin Memorable Journey Aboard Special Char Dham Yatra Train
A special tourist train carrying 186 passengers embarked on a 17-day pilgrimage called the Char Dham Yatra. The journey covers an impressive distance of over eight thousand kilometres including visits to Badrinath, Puri, Rameshwaram and Dwarka. Operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, this deluxe train offers top-notch facilities like fine dining restaurants and enhanced security features.
On Thursday, 14th September, a special tourist train embarked on an ambitious Char Dham Yatra with as many as 186 passengers. The journey will span 17 days and cover a distance of approximately 8,250 kilometres across the length and breadth of India. The pilgrims will visit revered destinations such as Badrinath, Puri, Rameshwaram and Dwarka.
The Journey

The Northern Railway spokesperson announced that the pilgrimage would not be confined to just these four holy sites but would also include stopovers at Varanasi, Nashik, Madurai and Hampi. This expansive tour is operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) which has made significant strides in promoting religious tourism in recent years.
The Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train was flagged off from Hazrat Nizamuddin station on Thursday evening amidst much fanfare. Designed specifically for this spiritual expedition, it boasts several features aimed at providing comfort and luxury to its passengers during their long voyage.
Luxurious Amenities
This includes two fine dining restaurants that serve delectable cuisines throughout the journey. A modern kitchen ensures fresh food preparation while shower cubicles in AC I and II coaches offer convenience for personal hygiene needs. In addition to this sensor-based washroom functions have been installed along with foot massagers for relaxation after long hours of travel.
Security Measures
Safety remains paramount with enhanced security features like CCTV cameras installed throughout each coach. Security guards are assigned to every coach ensuring utmost safety of all passengers on board.
Pilgrimage Sites
The itinerary covers some of India's most sacred sites including the Badrinath temple located near Mana village close to China border, Narsingha Temple in Joshimath and the spiritual city of Rishikesh. The eastern leg of the journey will take passengers to Puri where they will visit the iconic Jagannath temple, enjoy its pristine beaches and also visit the Sun Temple in Konark and Chandrabhaga beach.
In Rameshwaram, pilgrims will pay their respects at the holy Ramanathaswamy Temple and Dhanushkodi. The final destination on this spiritual tour is Dwarka where devotees can immerse themselves in its rich religious history.
