SP-Cong organise havan ahead of poll results
Workers of both the parties enthusiastically took part in the havan .
With less than 24-hours remaining for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections result to be declared, the Samajwadi Party and the Congress workers organised a havan (a ritual of making offerings) outside Mahadevan Shiv temple in Kanpur, said reports.
Workers of both the parties enthusiatically took part in the havan and carried posters and placards with messages on them. One of the posters read, "11 March ko hoga Rahul Akhilesh ka Rajtilak (Rahul-Akhilesh will be crowned on March 11)".
After the exit poll results predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to get the maximum number of seats in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2017, the incumbent Samajwadi Party has cast aspersion on the validity of the entire process.
All the exit polls have predicted that the BJP would emerge as the single largest party.
Some in the SP feel that the party should have gone alone in the elections, and the alliance has hurt them.
Ravidas Mehrotra, the family welfare minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government said in Lucknow, that it was his personal opinion that the alliance would benefit only the Congress.
