Samajwadi Party Backs UPPSC Aspirants' Demand for Same Exam Date Amid Protests
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav expressed support for candidates urging the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) to hold the RO-ARO and PCS preliminary exams on the same day. He stated that his party fully backs this legitimate demand. Aspirants have threatened to protest at the UPPSC office in Prayagraj on Monday if their request is not met.

The UPPSC announced that the Review Officer and Assistant Review Officer (RO-ARO) preliminary exams are scheduled for December 22 and 23, across three shifts. Meanwhile, the Provincial Civil Service (PCS) preliminary exams will occur on December 7 and 8, in two shifts. This scheduling has sparked discontent among candidates.
Protest Plans and Allegations
In a statement from the Samajwadi Party headquarters, Yadav accused the BJP of not hiring candidates but instead engaging in deceit. He claimed that when one deceptive act is exposed, another follows. According to Yadav, aspirants have recognised the BJP's alleged scheme to conduct exams over multiple days.
Yadav further alleged that this was a tactic by the BJP to prevent young people from securing government jobs, keeping them unemployed. He suggested this would force them into low-wage labour, benefiting BJP's supporters financially. These supporters would then fund BJP's election campaigns, he claimed.
Aspirants' Concerns
Ramakant Yadav, a UPPSC aspirant, explained that holding exams on different days violates established rules. Students are asking for a return to single-day examinations as was previously done. Another student warned that if the commission does not revise its decision, protests will commence on Monday.
Yadav asserted that unemployed youth have become aware of this electoral strategy and BJP's intentions. As a result, they are now committed to defeating the BJP in upcoming elections. The Samajwadi Party stands united with these youths in their demands.
The situation highlights growing tensions between political parties and examination authorities over scheduling practices. Candidates remain firm in their stance for fair examination processes, seeking transparency and consistency from UPPSC.
