Sonia to return after treatment, Rahul to accompany her
Sonia Gandhi did not take part in the five state election campaign after she feel ill in August 2016 when she had gone to Varanasi to kick start the Congress' election campaign in the state.
New Delhi, March 16: Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala informed media that Congress president Sonia Gandhi is travelling abroad for health check-up. He also added that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi shall travel there and he will accompany her on the return journey.

Sonia Gandhi did not take part in the five state election campaign after she feel ill in August 2016 when she had gone to Varanasi to kick start the Congress' election campaign in the state. She was flown out of Varanasi and admitted to hospital in Delhi.
In August 2016, the Congress party did not make public the illness Sonia was suffering from. The local media however, said she was suffering from viral fever and dehydration.
Sonia was not present in the country when the assembly election results were announced on March 11 as she had already left for abroad for her health check-up.
