Somnath Bharti grilled by cops, denies allegations of assault

New Delhi, Oct 1: AAP MLA Somnath Bharti broke down on Wednesday when he was grilled by the Delhi Police in connection to the allegations against him filed by his wife.

Police officials were investigating the charges of assault on him levelled by his wife Lipika Mitra when he broke down. However Bharti has denied all charges against him and claimed that they were baseless.

According to reports, officials quizzed him about the incident where he allegedly unleashed his dog on Mitra.

Bharti had surrendered on Monday, Sept 28 and was later sent to police custody.

Police officials also took Bharti to his Dwarka apartment where he used to live with his wife, Lipika to reconstruct the events.

Earlier, Bharti's lawyer hit out at Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and said that the latter should stand by his loyalists through 'thick and thin' like prime minister Modi does.
