Solar scam case: Kerala CM Vijayan tables report in Assembly

In October, Chandy and other Congress leaders had said they would challenge the decision of the CPI(M)-led LDF government to order a vigilance probe into the scam.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday tabled the Solar scam case report in Kerala Assembly. The scam was probed by a judicial commission.

Judicial Commission's report stated that the former CM Oommen Chandy through his personnel assisted solar energy company Team Solar and accused Sarita of enabling them to cheat customers.

"The then Home Minister T Radhakrishnan made all efforts to ensure that Oommen Chandy is extricated from criminal liability," the report further stated.

Justice G Sivarajan Commission which probed the scam which relates to a fraudulent company collecting money from people by leveraging its connections with top government officials.

In October, Chandy and other Congress leaders had said they would challenge the decision of the CPI(M)-led LDF government to order a vigilance probe into the scam.

The senior Congress leader had said he would file an application before Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, by seeking a copy of the report. He also stated that if it was not provided to him under relevant sections of the Right to Information Act (RTI). Chandy said he has not been provided with a copy of the report submitted to the state government by commission.
