Social Media Protest: Old innocent typist torchered, typewriter smashed; UP cop suspended
Lucknow, Sep 20: Things were really fine with Kishan Kumar, a 65-year-old typist in Lucknow till Saturday, Sept 19.
Kishan has been sitting with his old typewriter for the last 35 years outside the General Post Office in Lucknow. He earns barely Rs 50 by typing in Hindi on his old typewriter.

Things took an unexpected turn with Kishan on Saturday when Pradeep Kumar, a sub inspector, asked Kishan to vacate the spot.
The 65-year-old resisted the move by the inspector. An irritated and arrogant cop, who is blinded by his power, abused Kishan. Not satisfied by his act, the cop started kicking the typewriter.
Kishan pleaded for mercy to the inspector, saying that it was his only source of income. While Kishan was putting back the broken pieces together, the police officer snatched the typewriter from him and smashed into pieces.
The brutal act by the sub inspector was captured by a photojournalist. The picture went viral on the social media.
It didn't take much time for the authorities to act on the issue. The sub inspector, Pradeep Kumar was suspended after Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav instructed the Lucknow SSP to suspend him for "beating up an innocent wage earner" at Lucknow GPO.
Later on Saturday night, the DSP and SSP visited Krishna Kumar and handed over a new typewriter, on the instructions of Akhilesh. They also apologised to him for the unethical behavior of the policeman.
