Social media post leads to violence in Agra

Agra, Sept 4: Tension prevailed in Agra on Friday after some religious comments on social media led to violence between two communities the previous day.
Additional security forces have been called in to control the situation in the Shamshabad area here. Police said a Facebook group had posted some material described as biased and highly provocative by members of another community.

The Facebook group coordinator was roughed up on Thursday by those objecting to the posted material -- this led to a clash.
Police then resorted to lathicharge and fired rubber bullets to disperse the clashing mob. More than a dozen people, including three cops, were injured.
D.C. Mishra, Agra IGP, told media persons that the situation was now under control and the trouble-makers were being identified.
