Smog lowers visibility in Delhi to 200 meters

According to IMD, the sky later during the day will be clear and the maximum temperature of the day is likely to hover around 30 degrees celsius.

New Delhi Nov 6 Heavy smog in the national capital plummeted visibility to 200 meters early on Sunday as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 13.5 degree celsius, one notches above the season's average.

"Visibility at 8.30 a.m. was 200 meters, caused by the heavy fog and the smoke. This situation is going to deteriorate if not controlled," an official of the India Meteorological Department told IANS.

Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 96 per cent.

According to IMD, the sky later during the day will be clear and the maximum temperature of the day is likely to hover around 30 degrees celsius.

"The sky will mainly remain clear during the day," said the IMD official.

Saturday's maximum temperature was recorded 28.9 degree celsius, a notch below the season's average while the minimum temperature settled at 15.4 degrees celsius, a notch above the season's average.
