Slain NIA officer's wife dies

Bijnor, April 13: The wife of NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed who was shot dead two weeks back succumbed to injuries at hospital today. Farzana aged 40 died at the AIIMS traums centre at 11 am today.

After the incident Farzana was moved to the Fortis hospital. However, with her condition worsening she was shifted to the AIIMS traums centre at New Delhi. She passed away at 11 am today.

Two weeks back the NIA officer was attacked by two men when he was travelling from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh after attending a family function. Two men shot at him after stopping his car. Farzana who was present in the car too was hit by the bullets. However, the children escaped.

The UP police probing the case made a breakthrough following the arrest of two persons one of them who is related to the officer. The police are on the lookout for Muneer who is said to be the main suspect.

It is alleged that Muneer had nurtured a grudge against the officer who had blown his cover. Muneer a murder accused was hiding in Bijnor but was forced to flee after the officer blew his cover.
