Six People Die in Suspected Spurious Liquor Poisoning Case in Yamunanagar, Haryana
Six people have died in Haryanas Yamunanagar district over the last two days in a suspected case of poisoning due to spurious liquor. Investigations are underway and some people have been rounded up for questioning.
In a shocking incident in Haryana's Yamunanagar district, six people have reportedly died over the last two days in what is suspected to be a case of poisoning due to consumption of spurious liquor. The police confirmed this on Wednesday and stated that they are currently investigating the matter. Several individuals have been rounded up for questioning, but the exact cause behind these sudden deaths remains uncertain.

Yamunanagar Superintendent of Police (SP), Ganga Ram Punia, revealed that information about one death was received from a hospital on Wednesday afternoon. It was suggested that this could be a case related to spurious liquor consumption. While the actual cause of death would only be determined after conducting a post-mortem examination, based on this initial information, police launched an investigation and began inquiries in nearby villages.
Further Investigation Reveals More Deaths
During their probe into this alarming incident, police gathered information from two villages in the district revealing three more cremations on Tuesday and another two on Wednesday. These five cases are also being treated as suspicious deaths potentially linked to spurious liquor poisoning by the investigating authorities. Unfortunately, since families had already cremated bodies without informing law enforcement agencies beforehand, no post-mortem examinations could be performed.
The Ongoing Investigation
In response to queries regarding where these deceased individuals might have obtained such potentially lethal hooch from, SP Punia said: "We are verifying things and the investigation is ongoing." He further added that some suspects were currently under custody for questioning. According to police reports, victims spanned different age groups and presumably consumed this questionable alcohol on Tuesday night.
Treatment And Legal Action
The aftermath saw five individuals dying shortly after alleged consumption while one person succumbed to death at the hospital on Wednesday. Furthermore, two more affected individuals are reportedly receiving treatment at separate medical facilities. Meanwhile, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in relation to this incident, as confirmed by another police official from the district.
In conclusion, this tragic event once again highlights the potential dangers of consuming illegal and spurious liquor. As law enforcement agencies continue their investigation into these suspicious deaths, it is hoped that the culprits behind such lethal distribution would soon be brought to justice. This case serves as a grim reminder for authorities across India to ramp up efforts against illicit alcohol trade and consumption that pose significant threats to public health and safety.
