Six MNS corporators join Shiv Sena, Uddhav calls it ‘ghar wapsi'

In a blow to Raj Thackeray's party, six Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) corporators joined the Shiv Sena on Friday.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray has reportedly written to Anti-Corruption Bureau alleging that "a party offered money to its corporators".

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, however, rejected such allegations and said that corporators joining the Shiv Sena was "Ghar Wapsi".

Speaking to the media after inducting six MNS corporators, Uddhav rubbished allegations of poaching corporators. He took a jibe at the BJP and said that "such a thing (poaching) had taken place in Arunachal Pradesh and Goa."

"People should not level allegations of poaching. If others do it, it amounts to self-respect and if we do it, it becomes betrayal? Poaching took place in Arunachal Pradesh and Goa. What happened today (MNS corporators joining the Sena) was just 'ghar wapsi' (homecoming)," a PTI report quoted Uddhav Thackeray as saying.

There were no ulterior motives behind inducting the MNS corporators and it was done only after they expressed their desire to join the Shiv Sena, he said.

Uddhav also took a dig at PM Modi and that the 'Modi wave' had waned and that the BJP now relied on "sympathy wave" to win elections. He said the national party gets "stomach ache" if the Shiv Sena becomes politically strong.
