SIR 2.0: Electoral Rolls for 5 States, Including West Bengal & Rajasthan, to be Published Tomorrow

The Election Commission of India is set to release the draft electoral rolls for five states and Union Territories as part of the Special Intensive Revision process, also referred to as SIR 2.0.

The move is aimed at updating voter records ahead of upcoming electoral exercises and improving the accuracy of electoral rolls.

The draft rolls for West Bengal, Rajasthan, Goa, Puducherry and Lakshadweep will be made public on December 16, according to sources in the Election Commission.

Election Commission sources confirmed that the draft electoral rolls for the five states and Union Territories will be published tomorrow. The updated lists will reflect revisions carried out during the Special Intensive Revision exercise, which focuses on identifying inaccuracies and ensuring eligible voters are correctly enrolled.

The publication marks an important step in the electoral process, allowing stakeholders to review the data and flag any discrepancies.

Political parties to receive hard copies

Chief Electoral Officers and District Electoral Officers will share hard copies of the draft electoral rolls with all recognised political parties. This is intended to enable parties to scrutinise the rolls closely and assist in identifying errors or omissions at the ground level.

Providing physical copies alongside digital access ensures wider transparency and participation in the revision process.

Rolls and voter status lists to be available online

In addition to hard copies, the draft electoral rolls will be uploaded on the official CEO and DEO websites. The Election Commission has also directed that separate lists of voters categorised as absent, shifted, dead or duplicate be uploaded online.

These lists will help streamline the claims and objections process and allow citizens and political parties to raise concerns within the stipulated timeframe.

Focus on accuracy and transparency

The Election Commission has emphasised that SIR 2.0 is focused on improving the integrity of electoral rolls. By making the draft data widely accessible and sharing it with political stakeholders, the Commission aims to ensure that the final rolls are accurate, inclusive and free from duplication.
