Sikkim BJP president joins Congress

"Chetri, who joined the Congress today, was opposing the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) government in the state over 'corruption and scams' for several years," Faleiro said in a statement.
The Congress accused the BJP of betraying the people of Sikkim
"Chetri and his followers joined Congress having faith and belief in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi... Chetri proposed to organise a meeeting in Sikkim soon, where several BJP cadres would also join the Congress party," Faleiro said.
Sikkim will go to assembly polls along with the national election this year. The state has one Lok Sabha seat and will go to the parliamentary election on April 12.
