Shraddha Walkar like murder in Budgam: Shabbir arrested for allegedly chopping off woman's body

In a murder similar to Shraddha Walkar's death, a man in Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir chopped off a woman's body after killing her. The incident is reported in the Budgam district.

The cops have arrested a 45-year-old man named Shabir Ahmad Wani, a carpenter by professional. A resident of Ompora area chopped off the body of a 30-year-old woman from Soibug village of the same district into pieces, the police have told news agency IANS.

The cops had received a complaint on March 8 from Tanveer Ahmad Khan, a resident of the Soibugh area of the central Kashmir district, stating that his sister left for coaching classes on March 7, but did not return home.

"The accused chopped the body of the victim into pieces and dumped it at different places.

"The accused revealed that he murdered the woman and cut her body into pieces and disposed it off at different places, including Railway bridge Ompora and Sebden, where from the victim's head and other parts of body were recovered on Saturday night.

"The accused has been arrested, all the body parts were recovered from locations including her head from his home and further investigation is going on," police said.

During the course of the investigation, police rounded up several suspects, including Shabir Ahmad Wani.

After sustained questioning, Ahmad confessed to his involvement in the commission of the crime, the police spokesperson said.

The accused told police that he had chopped the victim's body into several pieces and buried the body parts at different locations, he added.

Following Ahmad's disclosure, the body parts were recovered, the police spokesperson said, adding that the medico-legal formalities are underway and further investigation is on.

The incident reminds people of the brutal murder of Shraddha Walkar, a Mumbai-based girl killed by her live-in partner Aftab Amin Poonawala in May 18, 2022, but the incident came to light only in November 2022. The accused had strangled her to death, cut her body into pieces, kept it in the refrigerator and dumped piece by piece, as per his confession during his investigation.
