Should have objected to loudspeaker use at all religious places, not just Azaan: Gul Panag
Nigam had on Monday raised questions on the 'azaan' call in the morning, terming it as "forced religiousness".
With Sonu Nigam having stirred a controversy after his tweets on use of loudspeakers during Azaan, actress Gul Panag on Wednesday said the singer should not have specifically mentioned Azaan and should instead have raised the issue of noise at all religious places.
She told news agency ANI that there should be a limit on the volume of loud speakers at all religious places.

On Monday, in a series of tweets, Nigam had raised questions on the 'azaan' call in the morning, terming it as "forced religiousness".
"God bless everyone. I'm not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India," Nigam had tweeted.
His another tweet said, "And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?"

After sparking off a debate on the usage of loudspeakers for Azaan with his tweet, an emotional Sonu Nigam defended his comments. The singer who called for a press conference to clear the air about his statements also shaved his head to prove a point to a Muslim cleric who had issued a fatwa against him.
Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi, the vice president of the West Bengal Minority United Council had said that he would give Rs 10 lakh to anyone who can shave Nigam's hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country. The singer called such statements gundagardi.
