'If our govt comes to power in state, will initiate CBI probe in Sudip Datta Bhowmik case': Rajnath

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday flagged off the Vijay Rath Yatra from Durgabari Agartala and also took part in a road rally which ended at B T College Ground.

Addressing a rally there, Singh said,''There should be CBI investigation in murder of journalists in Tripura. Till state govt didn't recommend it, we cannot do CBI investigation. If our govt comes to power in state within a week we will initiate CBI probe in Sudip Datta Bhowmik case.''

A senior journalist was shot dead under mysterious circumstances at a battalion headquarters of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) near Agartala on November 21. Sudip Datta Bhowmik, 49, was working for a vernacular daily Syandan Patrika and was also contributing to local television channel News Vanguard.
