Shocking Baba Siddique Murder: Political Ties, Gang Allegations & Family Reactions Unfold In Mumbai
The recent murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique has sent shockwaves through Mumbai's political

Families of the Accused in Disbelief
The families of the accused are reeling, expressing disbelief over the allegations. Dharamraj Kashyap's mother, speaking from their Bahraich home, described the recent changes in her son's behaviour. "He left two months ago for work in a Pune scrapyard, and since then, we've spoken only once. I had no idea about his life in Mumbai," she told ANI.
Similarly, the mother of a second suspect, who remains on the run, said she knew little about her son's life after he left to work in Pune. "He came home during Holi, but after that, he stopped communicating with us. I don't know anything about what he was involved in," she stated. The suspects' relatives are experiencing a profound sense of betrayal, especially Kashyap's grandmother, who bluntly noted, "He is nothing to me now. We've had no contact."
A Political Figure With Bollywood Connections
Baba Siddique, aged 66, was gunned down by three assailants on Saturday evening outside the office of his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique, in the Bandra neighbourhood. He was swiftly taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Siddique's reputation extended beyond politics, with longstanding connections to Bollywood icons, including Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.
Investigation Points to Gang Connections
Authorities are pursuing multiple leads, one being a potential social media post that purportedly claimed responsibility on behalf of a Lawrence Bishnoi gang member. This theory has led investigators to consider organized crime ties in the assassination plot, though no confirmation has been made. Security has been increased for celebrities and other high-profile individuals close to Siddique.
Unprecedented Political Murder
This assassination, marking the first prominent political murder in Mumbai in decades, has evoked memories of politically motivated killings from the 1990s. The high-profile nature of Siddique's death underscores the escalating risks faced by public figures in the city.
