Shocking! Astrologer rapes software engineer in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Nov 24: Bengaluru Police have arrested an astrologer for allegedly raping a 25-year-old engineer at his residence in Hoysalanagar area.

The accused has been identified as Damodharan, 32.

According to reports, the software engineer who hailed from West Bengal had gone to seek his advice on her horoscope. After an hour-long consultation, Damodharan offered her a glass of water laced with sedatives and when she lost her consciousness, he allegedly raped her.

"It took some time for the victim to regain consciousness. When she realised what had happened, she tried to escape from his house but Damodaran tried to stop her. He threatened her against revealing anything about the incident to anybody," a police officer has been quoted as saying in media reports.

When the victim regained her consciousness, and realised what had happened to her. When she tried to move out of the place, Damodaran stopped her, but somehow she managed to escape.

She then approached police station with her friend and lodged a complaint. Following victim's complaint the police attested Damodaran.

Meanwhile, police is probing whether the astrologer, who had moved from Tamil Nadu some years ago, was involved in similar cases in the past.

Damodaran has been remanded in judicial custody.
