As many big names emerged victorious, it will be a heavyweights' tussle for the Chief Minister's post in Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia and MoS for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti Ministry Prahlad Patel are top names in the race for the CM post.

In the 230 constituency seats assembly, the ruling BJP won 163 seats showcasing no anti-incumbency against Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, while Congress bagged only 66 seats under Kamalnath's leadership. Bharat Adivasi Party also managed to clinch a seat in the big battle, with its candidate Kamleshwar Dodiyar emerging victorious from the Sailana Assembly seat.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan led the state successfully for more than 15 years and powered the party this time too. Chouhan was the second big name after Prime Minister Narendra Modi to woo the voters in the state. His 'Ladli Bahna' scheme worked out in the party's favor as women voters poured love over lotus across Madhya Pradesh as per the results.

Jyotiraditya Scindia is another big name in the fray for Madhya Pradesh as the party may opt for a young face this time. Scindia, who switched from Congress to join the saffron front, currently serves as the Union Minister for Civil Aviation. Giving credit for the victory to the people of Madhya Pradesh and the party's top leadership, Scindia said PM Modi resides in the hearts of the people.

Prahlad Patel won the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls from Narsinghpur constituency and is currently serving as the minister of state for food processing and Jal Shakti. He has been with the party for a very long time and was part of the cabinet in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. He is known for bringing in a private bill in Parliament for banning cow slaughter in 2000.
