Shivaji Jayanti celebrated in Maharashtra
Mumbai, Feb 19: Shiv Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was celebrated with traditional fervour in Maharashtra on Friday, Feb 19.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended a celebrations at Shivneri Fort in Pune district, where Shivaji was born, and paid tributes.

In Mumbai, Governor C Vidyasagar Rao paid floral tributes to the Maratha warrior king at the Shivaji Park and garlanded his statue.
The state government's official 'Shiv Jayanti' celebrations are held on February 19 each year, while the Shiv Sena celebrates 'Shiv Jayanti' as per the "tithi." A Sena leader said that his party wants the government to celebrate the event as per the "tithi" - on Falgun Vadya Tritiya.
