Shiv Sena's Ravindra Waikar Wins Mumbai North West by Just 48 Votes in 2024 Elections
In a closely contested battle for the Mumbai North West constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena's Ravindra Dattaram Waikar emerged victorious by the narrowest margin recorded in this election cycle. He defeated Shiv Sena UBT candidate Amol Gajanan Kirtikar by a mere 48 votes, marking one of the most tightly fought victories in the history of Lok Sabha elections.

Historically, the record for the lowest victory margin is held by Konathala Ramakrishna from Anakapalli and Som Marandi from Rajmahal in Bihar, with both securing wins by just nine votes in 1989 and 1998 respectively. In the current elections, coming in second after Waikar, was Congress's Adoor Prakash who won from Attingal in Kerala with a margin of 684 votes.
The elections saw several candidates winning with slim margins. Among them were BJP's Rao Rajendra Singh from Jaipur Rural and Bhrojraj Nag from Kanker in Chhattisgarh, who won by 1,615 and 1,884 votes respectively. Other notable narrow victories included BJP's Mukesh Rajput from Farukhabad in Uttar Pradesh with 2,678 votes and Praveen Patel from Phulpur with 4,332 votes.
Further illustrating the competitive nature of these elections, Congress's Sher Singh Ghubaya from Firozpur in Punjab won by a margin of 3,242 votes. Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari from Chandigarh secured a win with 2,504 votes, while Muhammad Hamdullah Sayeed of the Congress from Lakshadweep won by 2,647 votes. The Samajwadi Party's Anand Bhadauriya from Uttar Pradesh's Dhaurahra constituency won by a margin of 4,449 votes.
Other significant victories include BJP's Kamlesh Paswan from Uttar Pradesh's Bansgaon with a margin of 3,150 votes and Saumitra Khan from Bishnupur with 5,567 votes. Aruna DK of BJP from Telangana's Mahabubnagar won by 4,500 votes. From the Samajwadi Party, Ajendra Singh Lodhi and Ramashankar Rajbhar secured their seats in Hamirpur and Salempur in Uttar Pradesh by margins of 2,629 and 3,573 votes respectively.
The Trinamool Congress also saw Mitali Bag winning from West Bengal's Arambagh constituency with a margin of 6,399 votes. As per the latest updates from the Election Commission website, Congress candidates Manickam Tagore and Bacchav Shobha Dinesh are leading in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar and Maharashtra's Dhule constituencies by margins of 4,633 and 3,831 votes respectively.
This year's Lok Sabha elections have been marked by several closely contested seats across the country, highlighting the competitive spirit of Indian democracy.
