AI staffer pushed me around: Ravindra Gaikwad tells Lok Sabha

Gaikwad flew to New Delhi on a chartered flight from Pune on Wednesday to attend Parliament.

New Delhi: Shiv Sena Member of Parliament Ravindra Gaikwad on Thursday while speaking in Lok Sabha said that he is not guilty and done nothing wrong. Recounting what went down two weeks ago, during his row with the Air India staffer, Gaikwad said,"What is my crime that I am being subjected to a media trial by fire?" He said that he did not thrash any Air India staffer and in fact, the staff had pushed him instead.

"I apologise to Parliament but not to Air India," Gaikwad said in the Lok Sabha, where his party demanded the ban be cancelled.

The Shiv Sena MP also refuted reports that seven tickets were issued in his name saying that he did not try to travel at all. He also demanded strong action to be taken against Air India.

The controversial lawmaker clarified in the Lok Sabha that the Delhi police had registered an FIR against him with charges of attempt to murder. He also requested the Home Minister Rajnath Singh to look into this matter.

The Shiv Sena in Lok Sabha has moved an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha overthe issue. Sena MPs raised slogan against Air India in Lok Sabha. Sena MP Anandrao Adsul accused the BJP-led government of taking no action on the issue.

Earlier on Thursday, Gaikwad who has been banned from flying by several airlines reached Parliament. Gaikwad also met Sena leader Sanjay Raut in latter's residence in Delhi in the morning.

According to reports, Gaikwad flew to New Delhi on a chartered flight from Pune on Wednesday to attend Parliament, but the Sena MP have refuted such reports. He has said that he cannot afford a chartered flight and came to Delhi on a train.
