Sharad Pawar Vs Ajit Pawar: Who Has More MLAs?

The Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party and Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar held separate meetings in a show of strength on Wednesday.

Ajit Pawar, who joined the Maharashtra government as the Deputy Chief Minister, is holding a meeting in Mumbai's Bandra while Sharad Pawar faction's meeting is underway in Mumbai's Nariman Point.

The meetings came after the two factions announced crucial appointments to assert their control over the party.

The Ajit Pawar faction flaunted 28 MLAs in a big show of strength. Meanwhile, a total of 13 MLAs are present at the Sharad Pawar-led meeting at YB Chavan centre in Mumbai.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has 53 MLAs in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly. Ajit Pawar will need the support of at least 36 MLAs to not attract the provisions of the anti-defection law.

• While 28 MLAs and four MLCs have arrived at the meeting organised by the Ajit Pawar camp in Bandra so far, 15 MLAs (including an Independent MLA), two MLCs and four MPs have reached the venue of the Sharad Pawar meeting at Nariman Point.
• The MLAs at the meeting organised by the Ajit Pawar camp are Chhagan Bhujbal, Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde, Narhari Zirwal, Dilip Mohite, Anil Patil, Dharmarao Atram, Sanjay Bansode, Anna Bansode, Manikrao Kokate, Sunil Shelke, Nilesh Lanke, Dilip Walse Patil, Dattatray Bharne, Aditi Tatkare, Prakash Solanke, Rajesh Patil, Balasaheb Ajabe, Sangram Jagtap, Atul Benke, Raju Karemore, Indranil Naik, Sunil Tingre, Dipak Chavan, Yashwant Mane, Nitin Pawar, Shekhar Nikam and Baban Shinde.

• A total of 13 MLAs, 3 MLCs and 5 MPs are present present at Sharad Pawar-led meeting at YB Chavan centre in Mumbai.
• The 13 MLAs include Anil Deshmukh, Rohit Pawar, Rajendra Shingne, Ashok Pawar, Kiran Lahmate, Prajakta Tanpure, Balasaheb Patil, Jitendra Awhad, Chetan Vithal Tupe, Jayant Patil, Rajesh Tope, Sandeep Kshirsagar and Devendra Bhuyar.
• The 5 MPs include Srinivas Patil (Lok Sabha), Supriya Sule (Lok Sabha), Amol Kolhe (Lok Sabha), Fauzia Khan (Rajya Sabha) Vandana Chavan (Rajya Sabha).
• The 3 MLCs include Shashikant Shinde, Babajani Durani, Eknath Khadse.
