NCP SP Confirms Z Plus Security for Sharad Pawar After Threat Review
The NCP SP announced on Wednesday that the safety of party chief Sharad Pawar remains a top priority, given his status as a leading political figure in India. This statement follows the Centre's decision to assign him the highest category of armed VIP security cover, Z plus.

Security Concerns
Party spokesperson Clyde Crasto expressed concern over the Z plus security being granted to Pawar after a threat assessment review. He emphasised that both the Union Home Ministry and the state home department should take this matter seriously. "Sharad Pawar is the tallest political leader in our country. His safety must be a priority at all times," Crasto stated.
A team of 55 armed CRPF personnel has been designated for Pawar's protection, according to official sources. The Union Home Ministry has directed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to provide this security cover to the 83-year-old former chief minister of Maharashtra.
Threat Assessment
Central agencies conducted a threat assessment review, which recommended robust security measures for Pawar. Consequently, the Centre has provided him with Z plus cover, managed by the CRPF VIP security wing. Sources confirmed that a CRPF team is already in Maharashtra to undertake this responsibility.
The categorisation of VIP security covers starts from Z plus, followed by Z, Y plus, Y, and X. This hierarchy ensures that individuals facing higher threats receive more comprehensive protection.
The decision underscores the importance of safeguarding prominent leaders like Pawar, reflecting their significant role in Indian politics. Ensuring his safety aligns with maintaining stability and security within the political landscape.
The enhanced security measures for Sharad Pawar highlight the government's commitment to protecting key political figures amidst evolving threats. This step aims to mitigate risks and ensure uninterrupted contributions from such leaders.
The article concludes by reiterating that Sharad Pawar's safety remains paramount, given his influential position in Indian politics. The deployment of CRPF personnel underlines the seriousness with which authorities are addressing potential threats against him.
