Sharad Pawar to Consult Party on Ajit Pawar's NCP Re-entry
NCP SP chief Sharad Pawar stated on Wednesday that any decision regarding a leader's entry into his party would be made collectively. He did not confirm if Ajit Pawar would be accepted back. Sharad Pawar addressed various issues during his interaction with reporters in Pune.

When asked about his estranged nephew and current Deputy Chief Minister in the Mahayuti government, Sharad Pawar responded that everyone has a place in the house. Reporters specifically questioned if Ajit Pawar would be welcomed back into the NCP SP. Sharad Pawar replied, "Such decisions cannot be taken at the personal level. My colleagues who stood by me during the crisis will be asked first."
Speculations and Recent Elections
Speculations about unrest in Ajit Pawar's camp emerged after the NCP led by him lost three of the four seats it contested in recent Lok Sabha elections. In contrast, the NCP SP led by Sharad Pawar achieved significant success, winning 8 out of 10 constituencies it contested in alliance with Congress and Shiv Sena UBT.
Ajit Pawar split the NCP, founded by Sharad Pawar, in July 2023. He led some loyal MLAs to join the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti government, which includes Shiv Sena and BJP. Ajit also secured the party name and poll symbol—the watch—from the Election Commission.
Internal Discussions
The senior Pawar recently acknowledged that some MLAs from Ajit Pawar's breakaway faction had met with Jayant Patil, a senior leader of Sharad Pawar's party. This meeting has added to the ongoing speculations about potential shifts within the party ranks.
Sharad Pawar emphasized that decisions regarding leadership changes or re-entries would involve consultation with colleagues who supported him during challenging times. This approach underscores his commitment to collective decision-making within the party.
The political landscape remains dynamic as both factions navigate their strategies and alliances ahead of future elections. The outcomes of these internal discussions could significantly impact the party's direction and influence in Maharashtra politics.
Sharad Pawar's stance reflects a cautious approach to maintaining unity and stability within his party while addressing potential changes in leadership dynamics. The situation continues to evolve as leaders engage in discussions and strategize for upcoming political challenges.
