Shankarsinh Vaghela resigns as MLA
Vaghela, who enjoys considerable support in North Gujarat, is one of its tallest leader in the state.
Almost month after quitting the Congress party, Shankarsinh Vaghela on Wednesday resigned as a MLA.
Vaghela, who enjoys considerable support in North Gujarat, is one of its tallest leader in the state.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel reportedly accompanied Vaghela to assembly Speaker's chamber when he submitted his resignation.
Vaghela's resignation from the Congress was a major blow to the party. Soon after Vaghela's resignation, several Congress MLAs left the party and joined the BJP.
It is not yet clear whether Vaghela would join the BJP or not. His son, Mahendrasinh Vaghela, had earlier said that his father will not retire from active politics.
Political observers say Vaghela may pitch himself as an 'anti-Congress' and 'anti-BJP' alternative in the Gujarat elections as he feels that the situation is ripe for him to make the last attempt for the coveted CM's post, which he held for about a year in the 1990s.
