@shammiwitness booked for outraging modesty of women
Bengaluru, Dec 16:In a strange twist of events in the @shammiwitness case, the Bangalore police has booked Mehdi Masroor Biswas for outraging the modesty of women. Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code prescribes a two year punishment and fine for outraging the modesty of a woman.
The reason why the Bangalore police decided to book this case was because it was found in his twitter handle that he had uploaded pictures of Kurdish women fighters working as sex slaves. The pictures were obscene in nature and hence the police decided to book him under this section.
Communal hatred:
The police has also gone ahead and booked him for spreading communal disharmony. For this, the Bangalore police has invoked Section 153 (A), which prescribes a jail term upto 3 years. The police believes that he has posted material which amounts to disturbing communal harmony and hence this section was invoked.
Remand:
Meanwhile, the police on Thursday are planning on seeking an extension of his remand. His five day remand in police custody gets over on Thursday and the police in the wake of an ongoing investigation are seeking to extend it before the Magistrate.
