Shame: Nurse who treated 'Nirbhaya' gangraped in Punjab, 2 accused arrested

New Delhi, September 10: In a shameful and shocking incident, a 33-year-old nurse, who treated 'Nirbhaya' was allegedly gangraped by seven men in Punjab on Monday.

According to reports, the nurse, who treated 2012 Delhi gangrape victim at Delhi's Safdarjung hospital, was gangraped in at Budhlada in Mansa district of Punjab, when she went to meet one of her ailing friend.

One of the person who was involved in gangrape is said to be a known person to her.

The police on Wednesday said that the two accused- Lakhwinder Singh and Rajvir Singh, have been arrested.

They have been booked under the IPC sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

The victim, who is married and has a son, was also robbed of many valuable items, including jewellery, cash and other items.

Reacting to this, BJP leader Sambit Patra said that it was a deplorable incident and strict action should be taken.

Congress leader Barkha Shukla said that immediate cognizance should be taken in the matter and action should be taken against all the accused.

SP leader Naresh Agarwal said that increasing crime against women is a sign of bad governance.

Meanwhile, woman activist Annie Raja said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should no longer maintain silence on such issues and strict action should be taken.
