Yogi Adityanath compares Shah Rukh Khan to terrorist Hafiz Saeed
New Delhi, Nov 4: A day after BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya attacked Shah Rukh Khan following Bollywood actor's remarks over extreme intolerance in India, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday made controversial remark against the actor.
The vitriolic BJP MP from Gorakhpur compared Bollywood superstar with terror outfit Lashkar-e-Tayyiba chief and mastermind of 2008 Mumbai terror attacks Hafiz Saeed.
"Mujhe lagta hai Shah Rukh Khan ki bhasha mein aur Hafiz Saeed ki bhaasha mein koi antar nahi hai (I think there is no difference between the language of Shah Rukh Khan and Hafiz Saeed)," said Adityanath while reacting over the actor's recent remark amid mounting concerns over the "climate of intolerance" in the country.
"The way some alleged writers and artists are raising anti-India voices, unfortunately Shah Rukh Khan's statements are also in unison with them," the BJP leader further said. [Kailash Vijayvargiya retracts Shah Rukh Khan tweets over intolerance]
Earlier on Tuesday, Vijayvargiya attacked SRK saying Shah Rukh's "soul" is in Pakistan though he lives in India.
"Shah Rukh lives in India, but his soul is in Pakistan. His films make crores here but he thinks India to be intolerant," Vijayvargiya said in a series of tweets.
The leader, however, on Wednesday retracted his tweets and said he was misconstrued.
His remarks had come a day after the actor said there is "extreme intolerance" in the country. Senior BJP leader and Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said what Vijayvargiya has said is "not the view of the BJP".
