Haryana Police Investigating Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Sirsa University Professor

The Haryana Police have launched an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against a professor at a university in Sirsa, Haryana. The probe was initiated following an anonymous letter accusing the professor of inappropriate behavior with multiple female students.

SIT Formed to Investigate the Matter
Additional Director General of Police Shrikant Jadhav stated that a special investigation team (SIT) was formed as soon as the media reported the allegations. Led by IPS officer Deepti Garg, the SIT is actively gathering statements from individuals involved in the case.
Statements Being Recorded
The SIT has already recorded statements from several people, including students and university staff. Based on the findings of the ongoing investigation, appropriate action will be taken against the accused professor.
University's Response
Vice Chancellor Prof Ajmer Singh Malik of Chaudhary Devi Lal University confirmed that the police are conducting an investigation based on the anonymous complaint. He emphasized that the university has an internal complaints committee to address grievances related to sexual harassment and that the anonymous complaint is being thoroughly investigated.
