Panaji, Dec 2: 50-year-old Tarun Tejpal broke down in jail during police investigation over the infamous sexual assault case involving a young woman journalist of Tehelka. According to sources, Tejpal was grilled for six continuous hours and were asked to clarify questions regarding few mails which were exchanged between him and the victim.

A police team-led by PI Sunita Sawant reportedly tried to corroborate the sequence of events which the victim had stated in her complaint. Meanwhile, police seized Tejpal's mobile phone in order to get information regarding conversation between the accused and the complainant.

Goa Police also sought to seize Tejpal's personal laptop, office computer and friend's computer from which he had sent mails to the victim. A session court in Goa on Saturday, Nov 30 rejected Tejpal's anticipatory bail plea and sent him to six-day police custody.

During his first night behind the bars, Tejpal shared the lockup with two other people who have been arrested by the state forest department. The former editor-in-chief of Tehelka was served roti, vegetable dish which were bought by his family members.

Meanwhile, sources informed that Tejpal has been taken to sexual potency test. A woman journalist, who has already resigned from Tehelka, accused Tejpal of sexually assaulting her at a hotel in Goa.
