New Delhi, Jan 11: After AK Ganguly, another retired Supreme Court judge has landed in a serious legal soup. The law maker, who has been identified as Swatenter Kumar, has been accused of sexually assaulting a female intern.

Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising, who held an aggressive campaign against AK Ganguly, was quoted as saying, "Since the intern has reposed confidence in me and shared her affidavit, I am aware that it is Justice Swatenter Kumar."

The complainant, who has become a lawyer now, wrote to Chief Justice Sathasivam saying, "On one occasion, the judge placed his hand on my lower back. I felt quite uncomfortable and disturbed."

The judge placed his hand on my lower back. I felt quite uncomfortable

"...he asked me if I would be comfortable travelling with him during the internship, and staying in hotel rooms... I felt extremely awkward and uncomfortable," she added.

"On 28 May, 2011 he put his right arm around me and kissed me on my left shoulder... On 29 May, I told him I would not be able to continue my internship," the complainant said.

Unlike AK Ganguly, Justice Swatenter Kumar was sitting judge when the incident allegedly took place. Justice Ganguly too has been accused of sexually assaulting another law intern inside a five-star hotel in Delhi in 2012. Though he overruled allegations against him, he resigned as West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC).
