Several States on High Alert After Deadly Delhi Red Fort Metro Blast

Several states across India have been placed on high alert following a powerful explosion near Delhi's Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, which killed 10 people and injured more than 20 others. Security agencies are closely monitoring sensitive areas to prevent any further incidents.

Bihar has heightened vigilance, with security teams actively monitoring public spaces and conducting thorough checks. Chandigarh police have tightened security across the city, increasing patrols in key locations. Kerala Police Chief Ravada Azad Chandrasekhar has directed authorities to strengthen security measures statewide. Haryana has issued instructions to all district magistrates to maintain alertness, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered the entire police force on high alert and intensified security checks following briefings from DGP Rajiv Krishna.

The blast occurred in a slow-moving vehicle near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, damaging nearby cars and creating widespread panic. Eyewitnesses described the explosion as deafening and almost seismic. Zeeshan, an auto driver injured in the blast, told ANI, "The car in front of me was about two feet away. I don't know whether there was a bomb in it or something else, but it exploded. It was a Swift Dzire car."

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha confirmed the incident: "Some people have died, and some have been injured. All agencies, including FSL and NIA, are present at the scene. The situation is being monitored closely." Seven fire tenders were dispatched to control the fires in nearby vehicles.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been monitoring the situation closely and spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah to review the response. Amit Shah also held discussions with Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar for updates on the ongoing investigation.
